The 67 CEOs of IDEA will present 20 proposals for the next government

“Argentines: let’s get excited again. Let’s make it worth it”is the motto of 59th Colloquium from IDEA (Institute for Business Development of Argentina)inspired by the emotional lift generated by the triumph of the Argentine Soccer Team in it Qatar World Cup in 2022.

More than 60 CEOs, organizations and technical experts the days will meet October 4, 5 and 6 in Mar del Plata to share their ideas and proposals on the most relevant topics for the development of Argentina: labor framework, transformation of social plans into employment, 40 years of democracy, public spending, tax modernization, climate change and high-impact sectors.

At the end of 2022, IDEA formed seven work teamseach focused on a key issue for development and led by CEOs of its partner companies. Each team held periodic meetings where different visions of the problems and challenges of the country, always with the accompaniment of technical advisors. The proposals are the result of that collaborative work.

67 IDEA CEOs will present 20 proposals for the next Government

IDEA will present diagnoses around seven axes among which stand out the “40 years of democracy and pending challenges”; “Generate employment for a sustainable Argentina”; “Sustainability is business”; “The urgency of public spending” and “Taxes for a competitive Argentina”, among others. Each one will be detailed during the event.

Below, we anticipate a synthesis of the 20 proposals:

40 years of democracy and pending challenges

1. Substantially improve democratic political culture.

2. Strengthen institutions to make them more effective.

3. Improve the effectiveness of the functioning of the Government.

High impact sectors

4. Generate macroeconomic conditions conducive to the development of high-impact sectors: fiscal stability, access to foreign currency, elimination of import restrictions and progressive reduction of export duties.

5. Move forward with certain regulatory adjustments specific to each sector.

Generate employment for a sustainable Argentina

6. Modify the labor fine scheme.

7. Modify the interest capitalization scheme in labor lawsuits.

8. Generate hiring incentives.

9. Update collective bargaining agreements (CCT).

From assistance to opportunity: transforming social plans into employment

10. Prepare a single and public registry of beneficiaries of social programs.

11. Improve the Bridge to Employment program.

12. Encourage the implementation of First Job programs.

Sustainability is business

13. Promote the transition towards sustainable business models.

14. Promote the implementation of sectoral tables.

The urgency of public spending

15. Reorder the pension system in an equitable and sustainable manner.

16. Rationalize and reduce energy subsidies.

17. Make the performance of public companies more efficient.

Taxes for a competitive Argentina

18. Simplify the tax system and improve the competitiveness of companies.

19. Expand the tax base by combating tax evasion.

20. New federal tax sharing law.
