In view of the lowered economic forecast, all political actors should agree on the goal of relieving taxpayers and companies, demands the FDP leader. And wedges itself against the previous government.
In view of the poorer economic forecasts, Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner is pushing for relief for taxpayers and companies. “We have to solve the brakes on growth,” said the FDP leader of the “Augsburger Allgemeine”. “People and businesses deserve relief.”
The lowered economic forecast should be enough of an appeal to all political actors to join in this goal. “The years of fair-weather policies of past federal governments are now falling at our feet in stormy times, which is why we need an economic turnaround,” said Lindner.
According to the Finance Minister, the current federal government has already taken important steps with the Growth Opportunities Act, the Future Financing Act, the improvement of skilled immigration and the acceleration of planning and approval processes. Further growth impulses through relief are now needed. The leading economic research institutes have sharply revised their economic forecast for this year downwards. They now expect gross domestic product to shrink by 0.6 percent. For the coming year they expect growth of 1.3 percent instead of the previously estimated increase of 1.5 percent.
