On Wednesday, a network error almost completely paralyzed Volkswagen. Yesterday, production started up again at times slowly. Today there is an all-clear.
After the extensive IT breakdown at VW, the car manufacturer has given the all-clear. “Production is back to normal across brands and regions,” said a spokesman. “The IT infrastructure problems in the Volkswagen network were resolved and the network is working stably again.” The affected IT applications in production were successfully put back into operation. However, individual systems could continue to experience impairments “during a transitional phase”.
A network error almost completely paralyzed the company on Wednesday. Production in almost all plants came to a standstill, including all German locations of the core Volkswagen brand in Wolfsburg. Audi and Porsche were also affected. On Thursday morning, VW announced that it had fixed the error and was ramping up production again. According to a report in the “Handelsblatt” (Friday), there were major problems in restarting the systems, especially in Wolfsburg.
