Nowadays, digital skills are no longer limited to certain IT professions, but play a crucial role in all areas. The WKÖ CodingDay is also taking place this year to promote digital skills in all age groups and economic sectors. With a large number of guests of honor and representatives from business, education and politics, the event highlights the importance of the 21st century skills that employees need in a strong economic location of the future.
Exciting experiments
The event begins with the MINTRON stage show, which is specially designed for secondary school students and presents MINT experiments. Afterwards, six hands-on stations, organized by EdTech companies, are available, which offer participants the opportunity to actively participate in the topic of MINT (mathematics – computer science – natural sciences – technology). Afterwards, the children and young people have the opportunity to show what they have learned and worked on as part of a gallery walk with well-known personalities.
Big awards ceremony
As every year, the centerpiece is the award ceremony for the winning teams from the Federal Apprenticeship Hackathon. Over 400 apprentices develop innovative apps at state level in all federal states, which are recognized by an expert jury in the categories of rookies, professionals and experts. The first two places and the “Community Star” will be nominated to take part in the Federal Apprenticeship Hackathon on October 24, 2023. Around 54 teams are taking part, who have the opportunity to further develop their app prototypes and then be recognized as part of the WKÖ CodingDay.
