Reinforcement of dams

The Presidente Néstor Kirchner and Governor Jorge Cepernic hydroelectric plants will have an installed capacity of 950 MW and 360 MW, respectively. The work in Santa Cruz also includes the construction of a 170 km Extra High Voltage line that will connect both generators to the Argentine Interconnection System (SADI).

“Between the two plants, they will add an installed power of 1,310 MW, so it will be possible to expand by 11.4% the total available energy generated by water throughout the country,” explained Juan Manuel Pereyra, president of Eling Energía. , a company dedicated to the engineering and construction of large energy generation and transportation works that is in charge of the project.

Days ago, the plants were the main activity of visiting a construction site within the framework of the 142nd meeting of the Federal Council of the Argentine Chamber of Construction (Camarco), an event that annually brings together all the large companies in the country, as well as prominent specialists, union and government authorities.

“It is one of the most important works, the engineering is present and it is very interesting to see the magnitude of the work and the place where it is located,” said Gustavo Weiss, president of Camarco, in a radio conversation. “It is very interesting for all of us who are linked to construction, since it is not common to see it in other places in the country,” added the businessman.

The dams are located on a watercourse with high hydroenergy potential, where their first preliminary studies date back to 1970. The estimated average annual generation would be greater than 5,000 GW/h. According to the builders, the plants will also boost economic growth in the region, creating a value chain that will include the creation of 6,000 direct and 15,000 indirect jobs.
