From 5 p.m. onwards, private households and companies can submit applications for investment funding for photovoltaic systems and storage on the homepage of the OeMAG processing agency (oem-ag.at) or on eag-abwickelsstelle.at. The pot is endowed with 55 million euros. The application deadline is October 23rd.

However, for smaller systems (up to 20 kW), the “first come, first serve” principle still applies. Whether you get the winnings depends on the time the ticket is drawn. To do this you need the feed-in point of delivery, a valid email address and the performance of the system. After the ticket is drawn, you have 14 days to complete the funding application.

The Federal Association of Photovoltaic Austria gives further tips: In order to submit a successful application, all the permits and notifications necessary for the project must already be in place. And you should read the small print carefully. The Renewable Energy Expansion Act (EAG) stipulates that private individuals are allowed to order and build their system before submitting a valid initial application, but not to put it into operation. It is even stricter for companies: they must not have started the project before submitting a valid initial application. This means that the funding applicant is not allowed to order the system or parts of the system in a legally binding manner.

The exact funding conditions for the coming year are currently unknown because there is no corresponding regulation. “Without a specific regulation, there is no planning security. The industry and customers urgently need information about the funding conditions for 2024 and continuity,” says Vera Immitzer, Managing Director
from Photovoltaic Austria. She advocates a continuation of the budget totaling 600 million euros. “It is difficult to adapt to the situation every year
must. The industry needs reliable framework conditions to prepare projects efficiently,” says Immitzer.

All PV projects require a grid connection and the corresponding grid infrastructure. The rapid adoption of a modern E-Commerce Act (ElWG) is essential for the photovoltaics industry, says Immitzer: “Projects that only exist on paper do not help us. With the new funding, politicians must also take into account the expansion of the electricity network and implement all the necessary framework conditions at the same time.”
