Now it’s time to be quick: Local companies have until next Saturday, October 14th, to apply for the Digitalos: The Digital Prize is awarded by OÖN and its partners Sparkasse Oberösterreich, Tabakfabrik, KPMG, City of Linz, Wiener Städtische and The state of Upper Austria at a gala in the Linzer Tabakfabrik on November 16th for the fifth time.

Applications are possible in five categories: Digital start-ups, digital personality, digital project and digital transformation are the main categories. The most fascinating woman in the digital sector receives the special “Digitalia” prize.

The start-up FiveSquare from Linz has already taken advantage of the opportunity. Hans-Peter Pichler and Patrick Haidinger have developed an alternative to the ChatGPT language model. The heart of the system is a language model based on artificial intelligence. The Linz-based company uses publicly available models, which they further develop into the “Karli” program. Data security is very important. Data should not end up on servers overseas. Founded in 2021, the company now has 20 employees. The areas of application are almost unlimited: from relieving the burden on customer service to providing an internal knowledge lexicon for employees. FiveSquares has applied to the “digital start-ups”.

Personal stories

Ohana from Unterweitersdorf is in the same category: The start-up helps parents raise their children safely in the digital world. With the app of the same name, parents can block dangerous content, block websites and limit daily screen time. It is also possible to query the child’s whereabouts at the push of a button. “Because transparency is important to us, we inform the child about every request,” says managing director Christian Orgler. The educational aspect is not ignored. Parents should be supported over the long term.

Behind every person there is a very personal story: Anja Pauli, who founded her advertising agency “Sun Shine Social” this year, helps her customers to communicate their ideas and visions, expert knowledge, messages and skills. It optimizes profiles, develops strategies and also offers individual training. The Linzer native grew up with social media and now wants to pass on this knowledge. The woman from Linz applied to be a “digital personality”.
