Through this alliance, Enel X (a subsidiary of the Italian group Enel, which in Argentina owns the distributor Edesur) will design “customized” solutions for each of its clients. While Santander Argentina will offer financing in terms of between 4 and 5 years, both in pesos and dollars, with different upgrade options.
The objective of the companies for 2022 is to complete 50 energy transformation operations for an added value of US $ 35 million. The scheme is intended for companies with energy consumption greater than 300 kW. It is valid for both large companies and SMEs, although the executives pointed out that the universe where they expect the greatest demand to be found in this first stage is among small and medium-sized companies. This scheme is not expected to apply to residential consumers.
“This agreement is a great opportunity to continue working together. Enel X has highly useful energy solutions for companies. Santander has verified this in its branches and as a demonstration of its effectiveness we are now beginning a collaboration stage that will allow different companies to travel together the path of efficiency and the energy transition ”, commented Juan Erize, general manager of Enel X Argentina, in the virtual press conference.
For his part, Ignacio Lorenzo, Head of Global Debt Financing at Santander Argentina, commented: “We are proud to accompany companies in the search for financing alternatives that are responsible with the environment. The transition to renewable energy sources, in addition to being a step in that direction, will allow our clients to save on electricity bills and to recover their investment over time ”.
Lorenzo also specified that the cost per 1 kW is $ 1,000, so that for an SME that starts with a consumption of 300 kW, the investment that the transformation will require is US $ 300,000. From there, the final amount depends on the characteristics of each company. But the maximum amount to be financed at this stage provided for each client is US $ 2 million, or up to 70% of the total investment.
Santander has been a client of Enel X since 2018, starting with the hiring of UBM – Enel X’s digital platform that provides companies with operational efficiency through the automated management of basic service accounts, such as electricity, water, gas. – for its 500 branches in Argentina.
Since the beginning of 2021, it has been carrying out an important medium voltage electrical infrastructure work in the Antequera building, one of the most important that the entity has in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
In addition, Enel X recently won a tender to install lithium battery sets for back-up systems in 11 Santander branches -in a first stage- to replace the generator sets.
