The Argentine company PCR completed the construction and put into operation two new wind farms in the province of Buenos Aires and a third in San Luis, with a total investment of US$370 million.
These parks together will generate energy to supply the demand of around 270,000 homes, through the national interconnected system. Called Mataco III, Vivoratá and San Luis North, and are already operational to generate clean energy.
In this way, the company begins to operate a total of 6 wind farms throughout the country, which add up to a total installed power of 527.4 MW, through a total of 130 wind turbines, which represents 15% of Argentina’s wind generation.
The 3 new wind farms
In a statement, the company reported that following the expansion of the Mataco-San Jorge Park, located in the Buenos Aires district of Tornquist, the plant added 8 wind turbines and a power of 36 MW.
This wind complex thus became the largest in the province of Buenos Aires, with an installed power of 239.4 MW and a total of 59 wind turbines.
Also in the province of Buenos Aires, in the town of Vivoratá, a few kilometers from Mar del Plata, PCR launched another wind farm with 11 wind turbines and a power of 49.5 MW.
Finally, in the town of Toro Negro in the department of Belgrano, in the north of the province of San Luis, a wind production center with 25 wind turbines and an installed capacity of 112.5 MW was put into operation.
This renewable park is a project carried out jointly between PCR and ArcelorMittal Acindar, on an area of 1,500 hectares and the construction of an additional stage of 18 MW of solar energy is planned.
During the construction stage of these 3 wind farms, a total of 813 jobs were generated and 9,615 tons of cement and 3,208 tons of iron were used, the company reported.
The 3 new parks are linked to the National Interconnected System managed by Cammesa and all their generation is contracted by companies to supply clean energy that allows them to advance in the decarbonization of their operations.
“The launch of these 3 new wind farms simultaneously represents a unique milestone in the renewable generation market in the country and for PCR an outstanding step in its history and strategic vision of growth and development of its businesses,” he stated. Martin Federico BrandiCEO of PCR.
