Wholesale prices slowed sharply in September: they rose 9.2%

The wholesale price index showed a strong slowdown in September, although it remained at high levels, showing an increase of 9.2% compared to Augustwhile the cost of construction increased 11.1% in the same period, the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec) reported this Thursday.

With these increases, In the first nine months of the year, wholesale prices increased 104.5% and the cost of construction, 104.9%; and in the accumulated year-on-year, 141.7% and 144.7%, respectively.

The general level of the Internal Wholesale Price Index (IPIM) registered a increase of 9.2% in September 2023 compared to the previous month, as a result of the 9.6% increase in “Domestic Products” and 5.3% in “Imported Products”.

On the other hand, the general level of the Basic Wholesale Domestic Price Index (IPIB) showed ascense of 9.9% in the same period, a variation that is explained by the increase of 10.4% in “Domestic Products” and 5.3% in “Imported Products”.

Likewise, the general level of the Basic Producer Price Index (IPP) registered a increase of 10.7% in the same period, as a consequence of the increase of 12.1% in “Primary Products” and 10.2% in “Manufactured Products and Electrical Energy”.

Meanwhile, the general level of Construction cost index (ICC) in Greater Buenos Aires corresponding to September registered an increase of 11.1% compared to the previous month, as a result of a 9.6% increase in the “Materials” chapter, from 12, 4% in the “Labor” chapter and 13.3% in the “General expenses” chapter.
