Economy takes debt from the BCRA for US$ 1.9 million

The Ministry of Economy took on debt from the Central Bank (BCRA) by expanding a Treasury bill for a total of US$ 1,877,961.59, through Joint Resolution 55/2023 of the Secretariats of the Treasury and Finance. published today in the Official Gazette.

The measure provided for the expansion of the issuance of the “Nontransferable National Treasury Bill in US Dollars due January 16, 2033”, originally issued on January 13 of this year.

The Lete will be placed at par with the Central Bank and will accrue interest from the date of placement, within the framework of the provisions of article 82 of law 27,701 of the 2023 Budget.

In the recitals of the joint resolution it was indicated that on October 30, the fifteenth interest coupon of the Dollar Bill maturing on April 29, 2026, subscribed by the BCRA, originally issued on April 28, 2016, expires.

The expansion of the Lete was carried out in order to cancel that rental service, it was explained.

On January 13, Economía issued a Lete in dollars with a ten-year maturity that it placed with the BCRA for US$ 7,132,655,012.39; On February 16, it expanded it by US$ 12,860,433.62 through Joint Resolution 6/2023; and on the 23rd of the same month it expanded it again by US$ 17,849,809.36 through joint resolution 8/2023.

On July 26 there was a new increase for $51,234,243.28; on August 15 another for US$ 2,305,953,548.86, on August 23 one more for US$ 17,480,979.35 and on September 12 two more for a total of US$ 2,190,325,127.98.

Added to today’s, the financing of the Central through this Lete to the Treasury Palace increased to US$ 11,730,237,116.43.
