To control the rise in prices of yerba mate, Agriculture set a schedule for the increase in raw materials until the end of March next year. This is the measure.
In order to guarantee the consumer access to weedan essential input for the Argentine table, and within the framework of a marked inflationary trend, the Government established this Friday a staggered schedule of price increases until March of next year for the raw material used for the production of this key product for mate.
The objective of this measure is to combat the impact of inflation on the price of yerba mate purchased by consumers, given that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) reached 12.7% in September and is expected to remain high this month.
Food is a basic component of the Argentine basket and yerba is an input that is used in all social sectors. That is why it is key that the evolution of its price is controlled to mitigate its impact on the pocket.
Price of weed: what the Government ordered
This was established through Resolution 406 of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, in order to foresee a staggering in the determination of the value of the price of the raw material of the yerba mate, which are the green leaf put in the dryer and the yerba mate dried put in the dryer, according to the following schedule:
- Until November 30 of this year: ton of green leaf putting it in the dryer will cost $169,360 and the ton of yerba mate put in drying room $643,570.
- From December 1, 2023 to January 31, 2024 inclusive: the ton of green leaf put in the dryer will cost $210,000 and the ton of dried yerba mate put in the dryer will cost $798,000.
- From February 1, 2024 to February 29, 2024 inclusive: the ton of green leaf put in the dryer will cost $240,000 and the ton of dried yerba mate put in the dryer will cost $912,000.
- From March 1, 2024 to March 31, 2024 inclusive: the ton of green leaf put in the dryer will cost $250,000 and the ton of dried yerba mate put in the dryer will cost $950,000.
