582 million euros flowed into the 31-year-old’s account, reported the financial news agency Bloomberg. As reported, according to the shareholders’ resolution, half of the previous year’s profit of 1.56 billion euros was distributed.

After the death of his father Dietrich, who was considered the richest person in Austria, Mark Mateschitz owns 49 percent of Red Bull through a holding company. This has now brought in 383 million euros. According to Bloomberg, an additional 199 million euros were added to the pro rata distribution. An extra payment to the Austro co-owner is considered a long-standing tradition. The Yoovidhya family in Thailand holds the majority 51 percent.

Lowest payout in three years

While the sums for “normal” Millennials – i.e. people born between 1981 and 1996 – are astronomical, for the Red Bull owners Mateschitz in Austria and Yoovidhya in Thailand it is not the richest loot. The current dividend represents the lowest payout in three years. Profitability increased last year due to increased production and marketing costs. The shower manufacturer’s sponsorship budget exceeded the one billion euro mark for the first time in 2022.

The political debate about an inheritance tax had recently flared up again in Austria around the Mateschitz inheritance. The NEOS appeared ready to talk after the SPÖ’s advances. The ÖVP Chancellor’s party vehemently rejected it several times.

In the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Mark Mateschitz is currently ranked 90th (November 2, 2023). He is by far the richest Austrian listed there. According to the index, the estimated assets amount to 18.1 billion US dollars (almost 17.2 billion euros).

There is only one other Austrian in the top 500 of the index: Novomatic owner Johann Graf. With currently $5.59 billion, the gambling billionaire is “only” in 433rd place.
