The entry of the major shipping company MSC into the Port of Hamburg sparked a lot of protest. But the deal is hard to stop and shows how container shipping is changing.
Things have become quieter in Hamburg. The opposition CDU is raging, and the competitors are also still grumbling. But noticeably little has been heard from the more important Hamburg merchants, the numerous large and small companies from the city’s maritime economy, the logistics providers and wholesalers, for a few weeks now.
