After the failure of the fourth round of negotiations for the 2024 collective agreement (KV) of the metal technology industry, the suspended company meetings from Monday to Wednesday will turn into a warning strike lasting several hours. The elevator industry starts on Monday morning with a large train station hosted by union celebrities. In addition to the chief negotiators Reinhold Binder and Karl Dürtscher, AK President Renate Anderl and ÖGB President Wolfgang Katzian are also expected.

“On Monday, November 6th, around 500 fitters from the Viennese elevator companies will begin with a joint, public works meeting on Triester Street,” the unions announced today.

Last night, after eight hours of collective bargaining negotiations in the Chamber of Commerce in Vienna, the social partners came only a little closer. The unions continue to insist on an increase in wages and salaries of 11.6 percent, the employers have improved their previous percentage increase, garnished with one-off payments. In addition to a one-year degree, the metal engineering industry association also offered a two-year degree.

According to employers, the unions have been very accommodating, but employee representatives spoke of “Voodoo mathematics”. Negotiations will continue next Thursday, the day after the warning strikes end.
