The president of the Argentine Chamber of Commerce (CAC), Natalio Mario Grinmanwarned today that “the first six months of 2024 are going to be terrible for whoever governs.”

“When they ask me how things are going to be inflation I tell you to enjoy today because next year we are going to be worse,” said Grinman in statements to the program “Si Pasa, Pasa”, hosted by Ignacio Ortelli on Radio Rivadavia.

The businessman considered that next year “it’s going to be very complexor” and remarked that “with a good pair of glasses in the distance we will see a little light in the future.”

In that sense, he demanded that politiciansand “do things properly” and warned that “if the opposition is going to be opposition for the simple fact of opposing it, Argentina is unviable.”

The role of the business community in a new government

In another aspect, he warned that “in Argentina there are businessmen who ask for protectionism, what happens the government has to know how to find balance”, since in his opinion “you cannot continue with a protectionist policy so that the machines remain tied with wire”.

Regarding the future, he considered that the next government cannot implement “an indiscriminate opening but you have to be intelligent to trade with everyone.”

“In a globalized world “There is no way to live with what is ours.”he claimed.

Likewise, he indicated that “Argentina is a country with extraordinary future possibilitiesbut it is not a normal country, because a normal country could not have more than 40 percent poor, indigence, with all the potential wealth that we have here.”

“That situation is left for countries that do not have these resources that we have. But in Argentina, the most serious thing of all is the uncertainty“, he pointed.

Finally, he referred to the future national president and in that regard revealed that he hopes he will be “an honorable and predictable person.”
