KV negotiations: Brunner offers to extend the cost-of-living bonus

However, the entire amount would have to be part of the collective agreement or a similar employment agreement, otherwise the benefit would no longer apply, said Brunner today (Monday) in the Ö1 “early journal” of the ORF. The inflation bonus was introduced in 2022 for the calendar years 2022 and 2023. According to the Ministry of Finance, this bonus was paid out to around 1.2 million people in 2022. There are no figures for 2023 yet.

In the ongoing wage negotiations, employers are favoring tax- and duty-free bonuses as part of the wage increase. The union only wants to accept one-off payments as an additional payment. From the Ministry of Finance’s point of view, an inflation bonus without being tied to the collective agreement makes no sense for the coming year because it would also create deadweight effects.
