The official text indicates that the second National Plan for Adaptation and Mitigation to Climate Change, approved in 2023, includes a measure that provides for the formulation of a National Strategy for the Implementation of Market Schemes.

This strategy was developed to apply both in commercial and non-commercial schemeswith the ultimate purpose of facilitating favorable conditions for projects that contribute to the mitigation and adaptation to climate change in Argentina, in a context of transition towards sustainable development, poverty eradication and environmental integrity.

It also promotes coordination between all government actors, the private sector and civil society related with carbon markets. It extends to all agreements, programs and projects on carbon markets in Argentina, covering all sectors and gases of the National Greenhouse Gas Inventory (INGEI).

In summary, the Resolution of the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, which approves the National Strategy for the Use of Carbon Markets, is an important step in fulfilling the country’s climate commitments.
