Galeev claims that Russian artillery production relies entirely on a few dozen radial forging machines from GFM Steyr and that spare parts are also purchased from there. The company rejected this: “GFM deeply condemns Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and of course we adhere to all implemented sanctions against Russia and fully support them. We have not had a single business case with Russian companies for a long time,” it said in one statement published online on Wednesday.

The company, which according to the commercial register increased its sales from around 32 million euros in 2021 to almost 70 million euros in 2022 and is privately owned, employs 400 people in Austria, Great Britain and the USA, according to information on its homepage. Among other things, milling and radial cutting machines are produced, whereby “we are the world market leader in the niches in which we operate,” it says there.
