This step became necessary after Poppmeier’s illness, Spar announced in a broadcast today, Tuesday.

Reisch (61), a grandson of Spar founder Hans F. Reisch, is a veteran of the group. He has been a member of the board since 2001 and deputy chairman of the board since 2021. He now forms the board with Markus Kaser, Paul Klotz and Marcus Wild.

The departments were partially redistributed in March 2023 and remain unchanged. Klotz is responsible for the international food trade, wild real estate and new stores, Kaser marketing, purchasing and IT.

Gehard Drexel, chairman of the supervisory board at Spar, says: “The entire Spar family really regrets the departure of Mag. Fritz Poppmeier from the board due to illness! I would like to thank him for his decades of commitment and dedication to our company. We all hope that he will continue to recover well.”
