On Friday, the leading index Dax closed above 16,000 points for the first time since August as the highlight of a four-week rally.

Around midday on Monday, the stock market barometer fell by 0.20 percent to 15,996.92 points. The MDax, however, rose minimally by 0.06 percent to 26,231.42 points.

Since the DAX was able to end its downward slide that began in the summer month of August at the end of October, it has now gained almost 10 percent again. However, the record high at the end of July at just under 16,530 points still leaves room for the year-end rally.
