Another company in the car accessories industry is facing trouble. After the bankruptcy of the Forstinger chain that became known at the end of July (the third after 2001 and 2018), the repair chain ATU (Auto-Teile-Unger), headquartered in Weiden in the Upper Palatinate in eastern Bavaria, is now said to be facing bankruptcy.
According to a report in the Kronen Zeitung, 420 jobs are shaky. According to its own information, ATU operates 25 branches in Austria, including in Linz, Wels, Steyr, Asten and Vöcklabruck. It is said that discussions have already been held with the landlords of the locations in recent weeks. Negotiations are said to be underway behind the scenes to avert the closure of many branches.
Cyber attack on parent company
ATU is said to have made losses in Austria in recent years, but was always supported by its German parent and the Mobivia group behind it.
However, ATU in Germany is still dealing with the consequences of a cyber attack. In May, attackers introduced malware that restricted the website and appointment system. According to investigators from the Weiden criminal police, the Russian group “Black Basta” was behind the attack.
