103 million delicious chocolate Santa Clauses were produced for the German market. But other countries can also look forward to the delight.
The German confectionery industry produced around 160 million chocolate Santa Clauses this year – around five percent more than in the previous year.
That is the result of a survey published by the Federation of the German Confectionery Industry (BDSI) among its member companies. “In difficult and uncertain times it becomes clear that confectionery is one of the little joys of everyday life,” said BDSI General Manager Carsten Bernoth. This applies in particular to chocolate Santa Clauses.
Export of the chocolate Santa Clauses
Around two thirds (around 103 million) of the chocolate Santa Clauses and Santa Clauses produced in Germany have been delivered to German grocery stores as well as department stores and specialty stores in the Federal Republic in the past few weeks. Around a third (around 57 million) of the chocolate Santa Clauses were exported. German chocolate Santa Clauses are particularly popular in France, Austria and Great Britain. But they are also sold to the USA, Canada and Australia.
