Argentina has had a trade surplus with the United Kingdom for more than a decade

In the accumulated of 2021, exports continued to grow (27%), while imports also increased (48%), compared to September 2020.

Despite the strong increase in imports, Argentina registered a new trade surplus of US $ 439, which implies an increase of 13.7% year-on-year.

At the same time, in the first nine months of the year, the important increases in exports stand out in the categories “Residues and Waste from the Food Industries; Prepared Food for Animals (Cakes and Soy Pellets)” which increased by 49%; “Beverages, Alcoholic Liquids (Wine)” with an increase of 12%, and “Cereals (Corn and Rice)” with an increase of 16% compared to a year ago.

Likewise, during these three quarters of 2021, sales of “Fish and Crustaceans, Mollusks (Shrimps)”, and “Meat and edible offal” also increased, which grew by 36% and 17%, respectively.

In contrast, during these nine months there were falls in exports of the categories “Oil seeds and oleaginous fruits (Peanuts)”, “Vegetables and Plants (Chickpeas and beans)”, “Vegetable and Fruit preparations (fruit juices and preserved tomatoes “and” Chemical Industry Products (Reaction Initiators and Accelerators and Catalytic Preparations) “, showing drops of 13%, 26%, 14% and 58%, respectively.

With respect to Argentine imports from the United Kingdom, the increases in purchases of “Raw Platinum Fine or Cultured Pearls” (75%), “Pharmaceutical Products” (61%), “Nuclear Reactors, Boilers and Machines” (48 %), “Beverages, Alcoholic Liquids (Whiskey, Gin and Rum)” (94%), “Foundry, Iron and Steel” (334%), among others.
