Last year, delayed letters and parcels caused a peak in complaints. And this year the number will remain high.
Delayed letters and parcels still cause a lot of annoyance for citizens. The Federal Network Agency in Bonn announced that by the end of the year, significantly more than 40,000 critical requests would have been received.
In the previous year, the number of complaints almost tripled to a peak of 43,512. There were only around 19,000 complaints in 2020 and around 15,000 in 2021. This year the number of complaints initially fell, but then rose again. Overall, the high level of the previous year is almost reached again.
However, the proportion of complaints is very low in relation to the approximately 15 billion shipments each year. The criticism is mainly aimed at the market leader Deutsche Post, but also at its competitors. A postal spokesman said that the volume of shipments was currently very high and that there were also many reports of sickness.
