If you want to do some real shopping, you have to go east. Germany’s most popular shopping centers are currently located in Leipzig and Dresden. This was the result of an evaluation of the comparison portal. Almost 3.4 million online reviews from more than 600 shopping centers were used to create the ranking.
Leipzig is therefore the ultimate. The city in Saxony has four shopping centers in the top 10 and is also number one: the Mädler Passage. Speck’s Hof takes second place. The shopping center can also be found in Leipzig. Both facilities are historic buildings that have been given a makeover. The artistic renovation is well received by visitors. The architecture and atmosphere were particularly praised in the evaluation.
Shopping centers like “Lost Places”
Dresden comes in third place. The Altmarkt-Galerie is a classic shopping center. According to the ranking, the gallery impressed, among other things, with its large selection and inviting charm. The situation is completely different in the centers that are at the bottom of the rankings.
Many people describe the StadtGalerie in Velbert as “desolate”. It is the “perfect backdrop for the walking dead,” Testbericht.de quotes a visitor as saying. The main problem: many retail spaces are empty. In Hamburg you know the problem. The shopping center in the Jenfeld district is also struggling with a high vacancy rate. Added to this are bad smells and dilapidation. The building is even described as a “lost place”.
Large cities like Munich, Hamburg and Berlin are having a hard time in Rankinig. Berlin comes in ninth place with the “Hackesche Höfe” center and Hamburg comes in eleventh place with the Levantehaus. The best shopping center in Munich, the Pasing Arcaden, is only in 20th place.
