Draft law: Less bureaucracy and more digitalization?

Draft law: Less bureaucracy and more digitalization?

Creating savings potential by reducing bureaucracy: Justice Minister Marco Buschmann has set himself this goal. – However, he would prefer a European solution.

Voting has begun within the federal government on a draft that is intended to lighten the bureaucratic burden on the shoulders of citizens and entrepreneurs. This goal is to be achieved, among other things, through shorter retention requirements for certain documents, more digital processes and the deletion of some regulations.

As can be seen from the Federal Ministry of Justice’s draft of the Bureaucracy Relief Act, the planned changes affect areas as diverse as the Commercial Code, the Sales Tax Act, the Federal Registration Act and the Maintenance Advance Act. For example, German citizens will soon no longer have to fill out registration forms in hotels.

Buschmann: “Only the first step”

“I probably get on the nerves of my colleagues in the cabinet when I constantly emphasize: This is just the first step, it doesn’t stop after that,” said Federal Justice Minister Marco Buschmann (FDP) to the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”, which was first published reported on the draft. “We are creating a total relief volume of more than three billion euros. The Bureaucracy Relief Act will contribute around 682 million euros to this,” he calculated.

Buschmann had already said a few months ago that he also wanted to campaign for an initiative to reduce bureaucracy among the member states of the European Union. The majority of bureaucratic requirements are a result of regulations at EU level.
