“Cigarettes, both domestically produced and imported, will be taxed on the sales price to the consumer, including taxes, except for the value added tax, a tax of seventy-three percent (73%),” the letter says.
Along these lines, it adds: “Cigarettes of national or foreign production must be sold in packages or containers under the conditions and forms regulated by the national Executive Branch.”
What will happen to electronic cigarettes?
In addition, it also establishes a specific tax on electronic cigarettes: “For the sale of Electronic Cigarettes, Vapes and other devices duly authorized for marketing, that administer nicotine without tobacco, as well as its cartridges and liquids, refillable or not, the rate of twenty percent (20%) will be paid on the respective impossible basis.
It must be taken into account that electronic cigarettes are prohibited by ANMAT provision since 2011 and the provision does not lift the prohibition of provision 3226.
