Shortly after the stock market opened, the leading German index rose by 0.25 percent to 16,743.50 points and thus remains close to its record high. It reached this point in mid-December at just over 17,000 points. The MDax of medium-sized companies showed little change in the morning, up 0.05 percent to 27,078.02 points. The Eurozone leading index EuroStoxx 50 rose by 0.34 percent to 4529.78 points.
With a gain of around 20 percent so far for the German and 19 percent for the Eurozone leading index, both have had an eventful but also profitable year.
