The Dax expanded its profits from the start of the week on Tuesday. In early trading, the German benchmark index climbed 1.11 percent to 15,551.58 points.

The MDax of medium-sized companies gained 0.93 percent to 34,311.61 points in early Tuesday trading. The leading Eurozone index EuroStoxx 50 increased by 1.4 percent.

Data on industrial production in Germany for October turned out better than expected. “Good news at the right time,” wrote economist Jens-Oliver Niklasch from LBBW. “It is particularly gratifying that production in the automotive sector is also apparently picking up again.”

After the more hopeful news about Omikron at the beginning of the week, according to which the coronavirus variant may be less threatening to people than initially feared, the market strategists at Credit Suisse see investors’ willingness to take risks increasing again.

According to analyst Jochen Stanzl from CMC Markets, investors would do well, despite the emerging optimism, to continue to closely follow the findings on Omikron. The data obtained so far are not yet extensive enough to be able to make reliable statements. And so the latest gains in the Dax could be lost again within a very short time if there were suddenly negative news about Omikron, the expert warned.
