The Ministry of Labor has prepared proposals to compensate for inflation for pensioners

The Ministry of Labor on behalf of the President of Russia has prepared proposals for additional compensation for high inflation for pensioners. This was stated by the head of the department Anton Kotyakov during the government hour in the State Duma on Tuesday, December 7.

He said that within the framework of the adopted budget, the indexation of pensions by 5.9% is envisaged, but inflation by the end of 2021 will be higher.

According to Kotyakov, the proposals were prepared as part of an additional instruction from the Russian leader on the need to provide “additional compensation for high inflation.” Appropriate decisions should be made in the near future, the minister added.

In November, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the country’s authorities should not deviate from the principle of indexing pensions faster than inflation; proposals on specific parameters are being worked out in the Cabinet of Ministers, the administration, and the State Duma.

The State Duma Committee on Social Policy announced its readiness to amend the pension legislation by the end of the year to index pensions according to the level of actual inflation.

Earlier this month, Alexei Gavrishev, head of the law firm AVG Legal, told Izvestia that the indexation of pension payments introduced in Russia on December 1 will primarily affect older people who have reached the age of 80 by November 30. According to the lawyer, in addition to basic pension payments, they will be assigned a fixed payment to the insurance pension, which will be 100% of it, that is, more than 6 thousand rubles.

Also, the indexation will affect citizens who retired after July 31, 2021. In addition, citizens who have applied for recalculation can apply for increased pensions. From December 1, pensioners who have submitted documents to the Pension Fund of Russia confirming that they have worked in rural areas for over 30 years should receive 1.5 thousand rubles more.
