PV systems are getting bigger

Netz OÖ received 21,345 inquiries about connecting photovoltaic systems in 2023

Netz OÖ received 21,345 inquiries about connecting photovoltaic systems in 2023: This represents a decrease of 30 percent year-on-year. However, the number of inquiries is still many times higher than a few years ago, it said in a press release yesterday. The systems are also becoming more powerful. A few years ago, the average output of a PV system was around eight kilowatt peak (kWp), last year it was an average of almost 13 kWp.

Small generation systems (balcony power plants) without a permit are also in demand, with an output limited to 800 watts: 4,171 such systems were reported to Netz Oberösterreich in 2023.

The big challenge remains the expansion of the networks, which is time-consuming: According to managing director Manfred Hofer, more than two billion euros are to be invested in the expansion by 2035.
