Grocery delivery services recorded an increase in demand for confectionery products. Izvestia was told about this in Yandex.Eda, Yandex.Lavka and Samokat.
So, in January-September 2021, the sales of confectionery products in Samokat increased 5.7 times compared to the same period in 2020, the company said. In October 2021, the share of sweets sales increased by 1 p.p. – up to 6% of all sales of the service, added there. In November, this level of demand for confectionery remained, said a service representative.
According to Yandex.Eda, Russians buy sweets twice as often when ordering food from stores. This is evidenced by the service statistics for the first nine months of 2021 in comparison with the same time in 2020.
During the same period, Yandex.Lavka recorded a 1.5-fold increase in sales in the segment.
“In the fall, confectionery products showed the most noticeable growth in sales volume among product categories and overtook cooking, which had been the leader in terms of growth for a long time,” a Yandex spokesman said.
He clarified that among the sweets, customers most often order pastries and ready-made desserts. In Samokat, the most popular confectionery products are chocolate bars and marmalade, slab chocolate, sweets, fruit and berry products (marshmallows, marshmallows) and oriental sweets (halva, churchkhela).
