Business turnover set a 16-year growth record

In the first nine months of 2021, the revenue of Russian large and medium-sized companies reached 144 trillion rubles, an increase of one third compared to the same period in 2020. The increase has become the maximum over the past 16 years, according to a study by the international audit and consulting network FinExpertiza (available to Izvestia).

In about a third of regions, a sharp increase in business revenue in 2021 occurred after a significant drop in 2020. And the deeper the failure of financial indicators was during the crisis, the more intensively the recovery took place afterwards.

The highest dynamics was recorded in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug: there it increased immediately by 88.5%, to 398 billion rubles – mainly due to the extraction of minerals.

They are followed by Yakutia, where business turnover also increased by 51.4% thanks to production, to 1.28 trillion rubles, and the Orenburg region (+ 51.4% to 1.41 trillion). Further in terms of growth rates are followed by St. Petersburg (+ 50.9%, to 9.81 trillion), the Vologda Oblast (+ 50.7%, to 1.27 trillion) and the Jewish Autonomous Region (+ 47%, to 66.4 billion rubles).

The Volgograd Region became the only region where business turnover decreased compared to the coronavirus crisis year: there they decreased by 9.4%, to 1.07 trillion rubles.
