Wages will rise by 8 percent in all wage groups, the Chamber of Commerce announced on Friday. In addition, socially staggered fixed amounts were agreed to compensate for inflation; these range between 21 and 27 euros depending on the wage group. In addition, allowances were increased.
Trade workers include, for example, warehouse workers, drivers and furniture fitters. The cooling allowance is set to increase to 0.82 euros per hour or 137.50 euros per month in the future. The night allowance increases to 2.20 euros per hour and the daily allowance for travel costs is increased to 19.30 euros. Furthermore, continued payment of wages for volunteers from the fire brigade and other emergency services organizations in the event of a disaster was agreed. Both employer and employee representatives expressed satisfaction with the conclusion in the broadcast.
An impending strike by trade workers was thus averted. Before the third round of negotiations, the employee representatives had already obtained strike approval from the ÖGB. On Tuesday, the union criticized the employers’ offer of 8 percent as inadequate.
There was already an agreement for retail employees at the end of December. They receive between 8.3 and 9.2 percent more on a staggered basis, and apprentice incomes increase by 10 percent. The collective agreement affects around 430,000 employees and apprentices.
