In 2023, 1,654,395 were sold used cars5.6% more than in 2022, but the December devaluation, which caused a fierce spike in prices in the Argentine economy and practically paralyzed some key marketshad an even harder impact on the sale of used vehicles, because it left them without reference prices.

It is that currently the owner doesn’t know how much his car is worth if you want to sell it, and the dealer also has little guidance on the value.

In the sector they also estimate that the valuations of the vehicles is overratedand that this favors insurers, because it allows them to collect higher premiums every month.

The Chamber of Automotive Commerce (CCA) reported that in December 122,024 used vehicles were sold in Argentina, with an increase of 5.6% compared to the same month in 2022 (116,147 units). If compared to November (132,314 vehicles), the decrease was 7.78%.

In 2023, 1,654,395 used vehicles were sold, a rise of 5.32% compared to the same period in 2022 (1,570,784 units).

“The volume of 1,654,395 units sold is not a minor figure in a context very complicated social economic”, said the CEC president.
