Putin commented on the situation in the field of import substitution

Almost all tasks in the field of import substitution have been solved, but the Russian economy needs to remain competitive. This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday, December 8, at a meeting with participants in the Congress of Young Scientists.

“Everything that we set as tasks – almost everything has been resolved, there are still issues related to microelectronics and so on,” the Russian leader noted.

The development of domestic technologies in the military-industrial complex is one of the priority tasks, Putin said. He added that the Russian Federation has achieved good results in this area.

According to the head of state, increasing competitiveness and developing industries are a response to various restrictions imposed by other states.

Innovation is one of the most important directions in this area, the President emphasized.

At the moment, states cannot remain a monopoly in technology for long, Putin said. For this reason, the authorities need to work with all market participants, but strive to strengthen their sovereignty in the scientific field, he said.

The Russian president recalled that states in the past have failed to maintain a monopoly on dynamite, gunpowder and even nuclear weapons.

“It is clear that in some areas there are leaders who are trying to somehow hide from us. The modern world is not such that it can be done (it was – Ed.) Once or twice, “Putin summed up.

Earlier that day, the head of state announced that Russia would develop a program to support scientific activities. It will be in effect for the next 10 years.

In August, in an interview with Izvestia, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia, Valery Falkov, said that a system could emerge in the country that would combine information about grants that were received for this or that research. The plans are to consolidate all funds for science in the country within the framework of one new program of scientific and technological development, which is now being developed.
