The managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgievagave his opinion this Tuesday about the progress in the Argentine economy under the management of President Javier Milei from the Davos World Economic Forum. At the event, the Bulgarian economist praised the efforts “on all fronts” to address the complex economic situation of the country.

The IMF director expressed her optimism by stating: “We are seeing progress on all these fronts“.


The bilateral agenda included a meeting between Georgieva, the Chief of Staff, Nicolás Posse, and the Minister of Economy, Luis Caputo, who discussed the progress and measures adopted by the Government. From the IMF, they limited themselves to commenting that they positively value the actions taken.

Within the framework of the seventh review of the Extended Facilities Program, the IMF and the Government reached an agreement last week, allowing the country to access a disbursement of US$4.7 billion. This agreement is crucial for the US$3.3 billion repayment that the country must make at the end of the month.
Initially scheduled for November, the change of government delayed the talks, but collaboration between both parties is now expected to help stabilize the country’s economic situation.. Georgieva will continue discussions with Economy Minister Luis Caputo and Chief of Staff Nicolás Posse before meeting President Milei this Wednesday.
