On the occasion of the imminent end of the lockdown in Austria, the government wants to tighten the reins on controls in retail and catering. Chancellor Karl Nehammer (VP) and Health Minister Wolfgang Mückstein (Greens) announced yesterday that anyone who does not adhere to protective measures such as compliance with the 3-G or 2-G rule or the FFP2 mask requirement must expect consequences.
“It must be over with this tongue-in-cheek indecision” during the controls, said Mückstein. In the event of violations, the catering and retail businesses are threatened with repayment of the corona aid payments made.
62 dealers filed a lawsuit
Meanwhile, there is a fear of further lockdowns in retail. In order to create “legal clarity” on this point, according to their own statements, 62 domestic traders brought a lawsuit at the Constitutional Court, as it became known on Tuesday. Dealers from all branches (fashion, sports, electronics) see the closure of their shops as a violation of the fundamental right to property and freedom of employment. The principle of equality is violated as well as the legality requirement.
The new collective agreement for the 150,000 trade workers was also fixed on Tuesday. At the beginning of the year, you will receive an average of 2.8 percent more wages. For 415,000 trade employees, the increase is, as reported, an average of 2.55 percent.
