93 percent of the pre-crisis level from 2019 has been reached. The top air travel destinations last year were Antalya, Mallorca, Barcelona, Bangkok, New York and Taipei, while the countries were Germany, Spain and Italy. Around 30 million passengers are also expected this year.

In 2024, Vienna Airport is forecasting record sales (970 million euros) and net profit (210 million euros). “With the new southern expansion, which will go into operation in 2027, we will catch up with the top airports internationally.

Our international investments in Malta and Kosice are recording passenger records, both of which have already exceeded the pre-crisis level of 2019. We expect growth rates in air traffic to normalize in 2024. The catch-up effect after the pandemic, which has been extraordinarily strong over the past two years, will ease somewhat in 2024 and we expect passenger volumes of around 30 million passengers for the year as a whole,” said board member Julian Jäger in a press release today.

Exceeded pre-crisis levels

The Flughafen Wien Group’s international investments would have even exceeded the pre-crisis level in 2023. Malta Airport recorded an increase in passengers to 7,803,042 travelers, which corresponds to an increase of 6.7 percent compared to the pre-crisis level in 2019. Kosice Airport achieved passenger growth to 622,012 travelers, which is 12 percent above the pre-crisis level in 2019.
