Meshmind, based in Bosnia’s capital Sarajevo, employs 50 people and specializes in software development and artificial intelligence-based applications such as machine learning and image processing. ABB wants to use this knowledge to strengthen its own research and development skills. There was no information about the purchase price in a press release today, Thursday.
“AI-based robotics and automation have the potential to transform industries by providing companies with greater flexibility and intelligence in light of major global trends and talent challenges,” said Sami Atiya, head of ABB’s Robotics and Factory Automation business.
The Meshmind office in Sarajevo will serve as a new global competence center for AI and software development at B&R. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2024.
Around 105,000 employees work at ABB worldwide; according to the OÖN top 250 ranking last year, B&R had 2,150 employees.
