The regions talked about measures to curb the rise in food prices

It is planned to curb the rise in food prices by compensating the costs of feed for cattle, limiting trade markups, holding agricultural fairs and increasing the acreage. Izvestia was told about this in the administrations of the Russian regions.

The Ministry of Agriculture of Russia announced the possible launch of a new federal project to support vegetable growing next year. An additional 5 billion rubles will be allocated for the accelerated development of the industry, and 10 billion for compensation for the purchase of feed.

We agree with the latest data from Rosstat that inflation for food products for the year exceeded double-digit values - 10.81%, and for food – 12%. Most of all rose in price for chicken meat (+ 31%), eggs (+ 26.45%), fruits and vegetables (+ 19.38%).

Izvestia sent inquiries to the press services of the governments of Russian subjects about the planned measures to curb food prices. From the answers it follows that they plan to slow down the growth of the cost of products by partially compensating the cost of feed and increasing the acreage, limiting trade markups for socially significant goods and holding fairs of agricultural products.

For example, in the Chelyabinsk region they said that an additional 300 million rubles were allocated from the regional budget for the purchase of feed for farms affected by the drought this year. They will receive another 200 million for the purchase of seeds. And in Crimea and the Kursk region, they inform the population about the favorable prices for food. In addition, the authorities of the peninsula said that they provide local agricultural producers with preferential terms for the lease of retail space and facilitate their search. In Chuvashia, in turn, they are developing a separate “road map” for the development of potato growing.

In early December, President Vladimir Putin instructed the government and regional authorities to increase production and increase the availability of basic food products on the domestic market. The Cabinet of Ministers must submit the corresponding report before December 25. As Izvestia was told in the government’s press service, a list of instructions from the Cabinet of Ministers is being prepared in accordance with the president’s instructions.
