Survey: 59 percent have no understanding of train drivers’ strikes

Most people in Germany find the GDL’s renewed rail strike inappropriate. Only around a third of those surveyed show understanding for the measures taken by the train drivers’ union.

According to a survey, the six-day strike by the train drivers’ union GDL is met with overwhelming opposition from the population. 59 percent have no understanding of it, a survey by YouGov shows. 34 percent understand the strike.

According to its own information, the institute surveyed 4,124 people in Germany aged 18 and over. The results are therefore representative of the German population aged 18 and over. The GDL is on strike at Deutsche Bahn until Monday. The background is the collective bargaining conflict with the group.
