Boeing 757 loses tires: the company’s next incident

After the incident at the beginning of January, in which a Boeing 737-9 Max lost a fuselage part in the middle of the flight and had to make an emergency landing, there is now a new mechanical breakdown in a Boeing aircraft.

The Boeing 757 was supposed to fly from Atlanta to Bogota (Colombia) on Saturday, but while the plane was getting into take-off position on the tarmac, it lost a tire.

Another plane on the tarmac saw the wheel rolling away and reported the incident directly to the tower. “Delta 982, this is the plane looking your way. One of your front tires just fell off.” The response from the pilot of the affected aircraft: “Thanks for that! Sounds like we have a problem.”

The search for the missing tire then began. A maintenance crew examined the defective machine. The subsequent scheduled takeoffs were delayed due to the incident and had to be diverted to other runways, while the Boeing 757 remained in place for approximately three hours. How the breakdown could have occurred is not yet clear. Delta Airlines has not yet commented on the incident.

Not the first Boeing incident

It was only on January 5th that another Boeing plane had to make an emergency landing. In the middle of the flight, a part of the fuselage was torn out of the Boeing 737-9 Max. Miraculously, none of the 177 passengers were injured.

Since then, the boss of the affected airline has been vocal about his anger. Ben Minicucci from Alaska Airlines told the US broadcaster NBC on Tuesday that he was angry. Loose fastening parts were found in the affected area on “many” other Boeing 737-9 Max aircraft.
