The collective bargaining negotiations for the approximately 90,000 employees in the IT industry continue to stall. The 7th round of negotiations also ended today without a result. “Although there was movement from both sides, there is still no offer from the employers for an appropriate increase in the actual salary amount,” wrote the GPA union in a press release on Thursday.

The next appointment is scheduled for February 2nd. The employee representatives were not satisfied with the employers’ proposal to only increase the minimum salaries in line with inflation. “A collective agreement is a complete package,” said GPA negotiator Sandra Steiner. A two-year completion of the IST increases was also an issue, but the employers’ proposal remained vague. “Despite a certain amount of skepticism,” the union wants to discuss this with the works councils.
On Wednesday, the GPA called for a protest in front of the Chamber of Commerce in Vienna; according to the union, around 2,000 employees followed the call. “We miss respect and appreciation from employers,” said Barbara Teiber, chairwoman of the GPA, at the rally.
