Bayer has probably prevailed in the dispute over the weed killer glyphosate. The chemical company had hoped for a liberation from the ruling by the highest US court.
The Bayer Group claims to have prevailed in a glyphosate trial in San Bernardino (California).
“The jury’s verdict in our favor ends the proceedings and confirms that Roundup is not the cause of Donnetta Stephens’ cancer,” Bayer announced on Thursday evening. “We have great sympathy for Donnetta Stephens, but share the jury’s view that Roundup is not the cause of her illness.”
Bayer had brought immense legal disputes around Roundup 2018 with the over 60 billion dollar purchase of the US seed giant Monsanto. The agrochemical and pharmaceutical company is facing numerous other glyphosate lawsuits in the United States.
The litigation concerns alleged cancer risks from the use of the weed killer Roundup, which contains glyphosate. According to Bayer, Roundup is safe when used properly.
