HAAG AM HAUSRUCK/PRAM. The 2022 electricity price shock was a great motivator for private individuals, entrepreneurs and farmers to have their own solar power plants installed on their roofs. They are usually rooftop PV variants, which are not always visually appealing. The brothers Alexander and Friedrich Rabengruber from Haag am Hausruck and co-partner Johannes Knoglinger have been taking a different approach for eight years and replacing the roof or parts of it with photovoltaic modules.
With its roof-integrated PV, the PV-EnergieDach, ENdorada, based in Pram, has applied for the OÖN Feronia sustainability award in the “Thoroughly sustainable” category.
Protection from hail
“There are many roofs that are not suitable for roof-mounted PV due to their age. These would have to be cost-intensively renovated before PV installation, which is why many PV projects are prevented,” says Knoglinger. On some roofs, a PV system that is so large is installed that the roof is no longer visible. So why not use photovoltaics as a roof replacement, for which there are also higher subsidies? Particularly durable double glass modules from Styria or from a German company are used. In view of the increasingly frequent extreme weather events, the Pram-based company offers a laminated glass system with the highest hail protection class.
As a further variant, ENdorado installs translucent photovoltaic roofs, which are particularly suitable for warehouses and machine halls, open stables and flying roofs, but also for private carports or terrace roofs.
The company with 15 employees is primarily active in the agricultural and industrial sectors throughout Austria and neighboring Bavaria.
According to the company, by the end of 2023, the PV EnergyRoof could produce around 30 GWh of environmentally friendly electricity and save around 12,000 tonnes of CO2. The roof saving is 45,000 m².
