In this way, the cycle of shipments abroad for the current campaign begins, where an increase of 20% is projected compared to the previous campaign, reported by the provincial government.
The first destination will be Brazil, from where they will continue their journey to other countries in the world, among which is Russia, the main buyer of fruit produced in the Upper Valley.
In this regard, the secretary of Rio Negro Fruit Growing, Facundo Fernandez, highlighted the “favorable harvest conditions and the recovery of quality production, which meets international standards and once again positions the province as one of the main exporters.”

“This year, so far, the climate is more in line with what characterizes the Upper Valley; “We do not suffer late frosts or hail storms, which means that pear production is closer to the classic one in the Valley: cleaner and without defects.”he indicated.

With respect to Russia, the main buyer of Rio Negro fruit, Fernández said that “due to the war between that country and Ukraine, several shipping companies cut off the entry of our products, a situation that this year could be planned better, with which we are going to recover the sales that we had lost due to the conflict.”
The pear and apple harvest in the Rio Negro Valley generates, each year, a significant volume of labor with activities that extend until the month of May.
