The cost of Freight transportation grew 20.64% in January and, in this way, accumulated six consecutive months with double-digit increases, data that is projected on general inflation, reported the Argentine Federation of Freight Motor Transport Business Entities (FADEEAC).
“After the December data, when the highest monthly cost variation in the last 30 years was recorded (28.23%) and a record in the accumulated annual increase (247.6%), 8 of the 11 items that make up the Transportation Cost Index (ICT) once again showed increases,” says the business entity.
The report indicates that the increases in the price of fuel, added to the entry into force of the 25.1% parity quota and additional, and the increase in inputs linked to the equipment, had a final impact of 20.64% on the general index.
In the case of fuelit is pointed out that the main element in the cost matrix of the sector increased 22.59% in January, after an increase of 63% in December.
The items that rose the most
According to January data, The Patents and Fees category headed the list of increases with an increase of 237.8% annual. On the side of inputs linked to equipment -several of them of imported origin-, significant increases were also recorded in: Insurance (+41.09%); Rolling Stock (+31.11%); Repairs (+28.9%) and Tires (+2.59%).
Lubricants (like Tolls) did not suffer changes compared to December, when it had a 70% increase. Personnel had an increase of 26.8% and General Expenses 9.8%. The only item that registered a decrease, of 6.2%, was Financial Cost, as a result of the drop in interest rates.
In this way, freight motor transportation costs closed the sixth consecutive month with double-digit cost increases: August, 20.3%; September, 11.1%; October, 10.1%; November, 15.1%; December, 28.2%; and January, 20.6%.
Support for labor reform
The First Association of Automotive Freight Transport Businessmen (PAETAC) confirmed his position in favor of the changes in labor matters established by DNU 70/2023, presenting himself as amicus curiae before the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation.
