Negotiations continue between the Government and a sector of the opposition over the omnibus law. AND One of the most discussed chapters is the liquidation of the shares held by the Sustainability Guarantee Fund (FGS). A sector of the opposition asks that part of the resources be used to pay lawsuits to retirees and the non-transferred funds of the provinces. If the ruling party does not give in, a group of deputies will vote against that article.

Although in the first reading made by the parliamentary secretary, Tomás Figueroa, it had been eliminated, The article that allows the sale of the shares held by the ANSES fund in large companies was included in the project that obtained the majority in the general vote last Friday in the Chamber of Deputies.

Now, all eyes are on what will happen in the particular vote that will take place this Tuesday, where some of the articles could be rejected or modified. For this reason, negotiations between the representatives of the Government and the “dialogue” opposition continue until this hour.

The chapter of ANSES Sustainability Guarantee Fund It is one of those that is still under debate. In the opposition there are different positions and the idea of granting discretion in the use of these resources is not convincing. “There is still no agreement. “It is part of the points that we are going to discuss with the opposition,” the head of the La Libertad Avanza bloc of deputies confirmed to Radio 10. Oscar Zago.

The governors’ request on the FGS

Two legislators from the We Make Federal Coalition bloc confirmed Ambit that “There is a request from some governors for a part of the funds obtained to go to the funds not transferred to the provinces and also for a percentage to be used to pay pending lawsuits to retirees for poorly calculated pension adjustments.”

In the first case, reference is made to the thirteen boxes that provinces such as Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Santa Fe, Entre Ríos and Corrientes, among others, preserve. The provincial leaders claim a historical debt there from ANSES. On the last point, the data are alarming. According to the calculations of the Ombudsman for the Elderly headed by Eugenio Semino, There is a stock of 300,000 pension lawsuits against ANSES and more than 40,000 final judgments from 2023 that are still pending payment.

In any case, the discussion is broader, specialists also point out that the origin of the funds is pension funds, so the use of these resources for other purposes could be considered a “confiscation.” In turn, the defender of the elderly requests a recomposition and an “emergency increase” for all retirees, due to the effect of inflation and the alarming data on the drop in medicine sales.

A senior official from the Casa Rosada ruled out for now the possibility that the Government would give in on the modification of this article. But the block of deputies that the ruling party needs for the vote in particular, warns: “as it is, it will not work out.”
